Eye-care in Bangladesh
40,000 blind youth
There are roughly 790,000 people in Bangladesh who are blind- 40,000 are children.
Given Bangladesh’s dense population and high poverty levels, access to primary health care is poor.
Even though globally, 80% of the world’s blindness can be avoided, eye care facilities in Bangladesh are often unable to meet the service demand due to lack of trained eye care personnel as well as inadequate equipment and supplies.
