Eye-care in Botswana
20,000 blind
Over half of the 20,000 blind in Botswana are suffering from cataract.
All it takes to cure cataract is a simple 15 minute operation. The issue isn’t about giving everyone access to eye-care they need. It’s also about raising awareness that cataract is curable.
Other key causes of blindness in Botswana are Trachoma, which is highly infectious, and diabetic retinopathy, which is on the rise.
