About 16% of all adults living in Jordan are suffering from diabetes.
Many of these people already suffer from diabetic retinopathy, the most common diabetic eye disease, or will do in the future.
The limited statistics available on blindness and visual impairment in Jordan show that cataract and refractive error are the biggest issues.
It costs as little as US$30 can fund an adult cataract operation and US$15 to pay for a pair of spectacles.
