600,000 blind

In Nepal, there are over 600,000 blind or visually impaired.

Every year, this number is expected to significantly rise.

Although over 90% of blind people live in rural parts of Nepal, half of Nepal’s eye doctors live and work in urban areas. This reduces the number of eye health clinics available to the majority of people who desperately need this sort of care.

Access to eye-care is, therefore, a huge health issue for the country.
