Eye-care in Nigeria
1.2 million blind
Every five minutes, someone goes blind in Nigeria.
This number is staggering. With over 130,000 blind children, eye care is desperately needed.
Trachoma is the leading cause of preventable blindness. It is also highly contagious. Another cause of blindness in Nigeria is River Blindness. This causes as much as 20% of blindness.
Raising awareness of trachoma and River Blindness could help eliminate a blindness which is entirely avoidable.
