750,000 women blind

Two thirds of the 1.5 million blind in Pakistan are female.

Many women, however, do not have the freedom to travel to eye care clinics to have their eyes tested. For both genders, causes of blindness in Pakistan are cataract and glaucoma, which can become permanent damage if not treated in time.

Raising awareness of the importance of eye screenings in Pakistan is critical to curing women in cataract.
