Eye-care in Zambia
100,000 blind
One in 40 people are blind in Zambia and one in six children suffer from trachoma, a highly infectious eye disease.
With many of the population living along the railway lines, this has resulted in areas of a high concentration of people.
Most of Zambia’s blindness is down to poor living conditions and malnutrition. Delivering quality health-care to its large population is a current challenge.
