About my charity

The statistics on blindness are staggering, but people don’t go blind by the million- they go blind one by one.

For each person the impact is enormous. Loss of sight often results in social exclusion, making blind people vulnerable to abuse, poverty and early death. Less than half of all children who lose their sight will survive to adulthood.

The figures are overwhelming. Help us to help others see by donating now.

On the 1st of May 16 brave souls are attempting to complete the UK’s toughest team challenge and walk 100km in 24 hours non stop, day and night along the south downs way.

The walk will begins near Petersfield and finishes the following day in Brighton. The trail largely follows the South Downs Way which is one of the UK’s national trails. The distance equates to 2 and a half marathons or roughly the same distance as Basinghall avenue to Cambridge. For those of you in Singapore it’s the centre of the city to Changi airport multiplied by 5, for those in NY, Two Gateway Centre to JFK airport and half way back!

So as you can imagine this will be an enormous challenge for us all, this is before you take into consideration all the creepy crawleys, toilet breaks in the bush and the general British weather.

As a scot it is particular hard for me to part with any money, despite the cause.. But, although the walk is challenging, the thought of spending 23 hours with certain participants is frightening enough and definitely warrants a donation. Suggest you charge up those ipods!
